The North Carolina Business Court is a specialized forum of the North Carolina State Courts’ trial division. Cases involving complex and significant issues of corporate and commercial law in our state are assigned by the Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court to a special superior court judge who oversees resolution of all matters in the case through trial.

Business Court Expansion:
The General Assembly passed legislation expanding the Business Court and making significant changes to the manner in which cases can be removed to the Business Court. During the month of November revisions to the local rules and additional information regarding these changes will be posted on this website. In the interim, the Chief Justice has designated two new Business Court Judges, John Jolly in Raleigh and Albert Diaz in Charlotte. Both Judges may now be assigned complex business cases.
